Who We Are

Healthcare Financial, Inc. is a privately owned for-profit company specializing in connecting low income and disabled individuals, families, children and elderly with public health insurance benefits. We specialize in advocating for the socially and/or medically complex applicant. Our clients include hospitals, MassHealth managed care plans, community health centers, nursing homes, homeless and battered woman's shelters and the people they serve.

What We Do

We provide on-site social workers to meet with every patient and to advocate for the best possible health insurance coverage. Our services are free to the patient. Healthcare Financial, Inc.'s patient advocacy produces increased and secure reimbursement to our clients through free care and Medicaid enrollment. Healthcare Financial, Inc.'s work upgrading the benefits of disabled MassHealth managed care plan members brings millions of additional well-deserved dollars to the plans servicing these disabled people.

How We Do It

We are committed to improving the fiscal health of our expanding client base which includes: the largest and most prestigious hospital systems, nursing homes, community health centers, MassHealth managed care programs as well as homeless and shattered woman's shelters throughout Massachusetts.

Our applicants are low income, disabled, medically complex, frail elderly, homeless and non-English speaking people who have ongoing healthcare needs and often high medical bills. We connect each person with expertly trained social workers, nurses and other advocates who:

1. Screen them for the most comprehensive public health insurance benefits available
2. Complete the applications, including disability applications
3. Assist in the gathering and submission of required documentation
4. Navigate the complexities of the enrollment process
5. Provide expert billing and collections staff to assure the best possible state reimbursement

Our History

Immediately upon graduation from Northeastern University in 1986, Gerard Vitti operationalized his business idea by starting a company called Healthcare Financial Associates (HFA). HFA was the first company to offer accounts receivable assistance to long-term care providers and it grew to be a New England regional business.

For Mr. Vitti, the son of a social worker, it was natural to seek out an opportunity to directly help people in need. Anticipating that the national problem of the uninsured would largely be addressed through Medicaid expansion, HFA began programs to assist hospitals in enrolling uninsured patients into Medicaid.

Healthcare Financial, Inc. (HFI) was formed on January 1, 1999. Mr. Vitti partnered with Thomas G. Gennis, Esq. to provide HFI with expert legal advise, ongoing government program regulations support, patient advocacy, appeals and HIPAA compliance.

Today, we are proud that we are in the top 2% tier of businesses in the country. There are twenty three million businesses in the United States and only 4% of them make over $1 million in revenue and 96% of businesses have fewer than ten employees. Over the years, we have made much progress and many mistakes, but we have remained relentless in our drive to improve our services.
