Orton Enters Into Agreement with Healthcare Financial
Firm to Assist Hospital In Getting Coverage for Uninsured
12.27.04 Morton Hospital and Medical Center has entered into an agreement with Healthcare Financial, Inc. (HFI) to work with the hospital in identifying uninsured patients who are eligible for public insurance programs and to begin enrolling them into these programs.
“At Morton, like every other hospital in the Commonwealth, we are overwhelmed by the demand for free care,” said Morton Hospital and Medical Center President Thomas C. Porter. “Our work with HFI will enable us to increase the number of insured individuals that we are serving, helping both the hospital and those who previously had no insurance.”
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Morton,” said HFI President Jerry Vitti. “We have developed a system that has generated great results for some of the state’s largest hospitals and we know that it will work at Morton as well.”
HFI helps health providers to identify uninsured individuals who are eligible for Medicaid and other government health programs and then assists the individuals with the application process. Overseeing the benefits application process is a staff that speaks a dozen languages, works 365 days a year, and is expert at connecting with difficult-to-enroll eligibles by doing the paperwork, obtaining the needed verifications, and filing appeals when needed.
In the last quarter, the company has signed new contracts with Cambridge Hospital, New England Medical Center, Somerville Hospital and Whidden Hospital (Everett) and counts Boston Medical Center, Caritas Christi Health Care, and UMass Memorial Medical Center as existing clients. HFI has also recently expanded its contracts with Baystate Medical Center, Holyoke Medical Center, and Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
